Let’s hope she will lead a way for the long awaited emancipation of femininity in design”, this is the way how Nika Zupanc introduces herself. Zupanc’s works deal with everyday subjects and themes that practically iconic personify mediocrity, boredom, and time constraints. European “method” of working with color

May 24th, 2011

Combination of more than three-four colors – is impropriety? This is for bores! – consider the owners of beautiful modern apartment where the numerous bright colors and patterns coexist in absolute resonance with feeling of limits and elegancy.

Bright colors and expressive patterns form the feeling of joy, fullness and diversity of life.

According to this recipe such interior has everything: color, light, space, functionality, sincerity, style and creative.

All these characteristics mixed in the necessary proportions are added to the snow-white creams of walls and ceilings and are out on the thin layer of golden biscuit of parquet.

The work with signing elements of lighting is also impressive and furniture which capacity and ergonomic distinguishes with genius of simplicity. This interior suits ideally for life of modern family. Kitchen takes very few place owing to well thought-out storage systems, actual design and reasonable decision of bar zone. It is possible to enjoy breakfast or a glass of vine together with your family and guests placing yourself comfortable on the comfortable high chairs.

Armchair-lighting by studio Slokoski

April 25th, 2011

It is pleasant to feel that you are a model for imitation, an object which inspires and impels to actions. I think that the author of the famous Russian toy – Russian dolls – would be also pleased and proud if he found out that his creation serves as a prototype for projects of modern designers, artists, sculptures for many years already. So, brothers Georgi and Petar Slokoski, designer and artist from Bulgaria, projected uncommon armchairs called Matreshka Light Chair. They are uncommon not only because they look like already mentioned Russian doll, – this armchair is also the lighting.

Of course, this furniture will not become the full-fledged lighting and the designers did not have such purpose. The light-emitted diodes built in Matreshka Light Chair are likely necessary to create cozy romantic atmosphere; this armchair is so deep that if you want you can hide inside it like in the nest, make yourself comfortable and stay alone with your thoughts.

Made of fiberglass armchair-matreshka is covered inside either with leather or with textile or with artificial fur or any other material which is comfortable to the customer. As for illumination it is controlled distantly and allow realizing the thousands of color combinations including white color which is very comfortable for reading according to the words of inventors. Besides the color also the brightness of armchair-lighting can be regulated so it can be used as the independent lighting.

In contrast to multicolor illumination Matreshka Light Chair exist only in black or white colors but it’s more than enough – the authors of the project are sure – because black and white are universal colors and are suitable both for strict office space and for entertaining placement, trading center or restaurant. The base of armchair-lighting allows it turning around itself that can serve you the additional source of joy.

Lighting by Brodie Neill for Kundalini

April 7th, 2011

Italian design brand Kundalini will present the lighting based on the natural form of the clover leaf by Australian designer Brodie Neill in Milan next week. The light, called Clover, is made from molded polyurethane and aluminum with the light source concealed at the centre of the three folds. Clover will be presented at Euroluce in Milan next week and also at FRETTE, Via Montenapoleone 21.

Flowing lines and surfaces fold, expand and merge. They form an alluring three-dimensional, enveloping and open structure. This is a sculptural-lamp of extreme visual lightness. It is a kind of ultra contemporary and dream-like mobile. A shape intended to diffuse light in an evocative way.

Inspired by natural form, it calls to mind the organic lines of a clover leaf. The light source, hidden at the meeting point of the three petals, casts light onto the internal surfaces in a continuous play of reflections and rebounds. Clover is the result of research into new luminous expressions by Brodie Neill and Kundalini.

The Australian designer Brodie Neill works and lives in London. He already designed the celebrated E-Turn bench for Kundalini in 2007. This was a fascinating, unbroken band of GRP. It was a perfect synthesis of the expressive methods of Brodie Neill, who has established himself within the international design scene with his exciting research into form. An innovative aesthetic, that reinterprets objects of everyday use through flowing lines that move through space with suggestive three-dimensional effects. Brodie Neill participates in many international shows and exhibitions and has been widely published.

Funky Floor Lamps by Angelika Morlein

December 3rd, 2010

If the designers create neat furniture then there is no need to surprise that designer Angelika Morlein decided to dress the standard lamps in dresses and suits calling her project Funky Floor Lamps and presenting the neat lightings as “frequent customers of Grand Hotel”. Guests coming and going, the chef and the staff – luxury and professionalism intermingled, with unknown origins and many different tales to tell.

Grand Hotel is visited by very different people judging by the collection of uncommon standard lamps. Among the frequent visitors you can recognize Brigitte, the French lady wearing tender-pink dress with folds and ruches. Or Russian lady Natasha whose black chiffon costume shows her as a fate woman…

The designer did not forget the maintenance staff without who non hotel can manage. In the collection of standard lamps there are standoffish chief cook Enrico in the accurate ironed grey-white costume, chambermaid in black pleated skirt and hall porter Gio in white shirt with black bow tie.

Of course, all these clothes can be washed in the machine or with hands. You can apply the cute floor lamp anywhere, such as bedrooms, living room, or in the corridors of your home.

The unique stand lamps are part of the interior design but, at the same time, are also capable of arousing surprise, in the same way as the clothes someone wears can create an identity for that person´s body and soul.
